All the tunes were composed by Michael except Mau, which was composed by friend and saxophone player, Andre Paris.

Quintiplicity contains contemporary Jazz, reggae, funk and brazilian elements. It shows off Michael’s trumpet virtuosity and composing genius. Quintiplicity Review

Paul Dyne, Wellington, June 2005
Some words spring to mind immediately on listening to this debut CD by trumpeter/composer Mike Taylor and his group: challenging, interesting, strong and highly rhythmic music. It is music with unusual and unexpected twists played by musicians who are relaxed and comfortable with the time signature changes and the twists, and can play confidently through the heads and the blowing. These are contemporary compositions that are strong and different. There is exceptional horn playing by Mike and Andre. The soloing is very good on all the tunes and the rhythm section work is also really impressive. Darren’s feel and grooves are strong and joyous and the extra fills and additions are tasty and always add to the music. Caleb’s contribution is also strong, groovy and musical. Daniel’s sound and feel are excellent – always relaxed and very musical. This is a very good project with a great band and is a very good record of Mike’s playing and compositional accomplishments to date.

The CD is beautifully recorded, all the instruments sound great, and the CD has a great feel about it.
